Anticipated Discussion of NAP
As you will know from our recent newsletter, two important meetings are taking place at Bromley Council next week. Please attend if possible.
Executive, Resources and Contracts Planning and Development Scrutiny Committee
on Monday March 25th at 7pm in the Council Chambers, Stockwell Close, BR1 3UH
Executive Committee
on Wednesday March 27th, also at 7pm in the Council Chambers, Stockwell Close, BR1 3UH
An update on the progress with the discussions on the Biggin Hill Airport Noise Action Plan (NAP) is on the agenda of each. These discussions have been going on for a year since the Council asked BHAL to address the matters raised as a result of their previous attempt to introduce a revision to the NAP. This will be when we find out where the discussions have led. You can find the Council’s report at this link:
Agenda for Executive on Wednesday 27 March 2024, 7.00 pm (bromley.gov.uk)
Remember:
- The NAP affects us! It defines how the noise associated with the operations of Biggin Hill Airport is measured and monitored.
- Any changes to this document will be legally in place for years to come.
- The NAP controls, among other things, how many flights can take place, what routes they can follow and how much noise they are allowed to make.
- Summer is coming. If Bromley Council allows any relaxation in the existing terms of the NAP, the noise and pollution we experience in our homes and gardens will undoubtedly be worse than it already is.
THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO MAKE YOUR FEELINGS KNOWN.
OUR COUNCIL WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU.
PLEASE RALLY TO THE CAUSE. THIS IS WHAT YOU CAN DO:
- If at all possible, please attend these meetings. Unquestionably, a visible presence of residents is the best way to influence Bromley Council that Biggin Hill Airport already adversely affects the quality of life in the Borough and must not be allowed to make it worse.
- Please let your Councillors know that you are concerned about this. As supporters you have been amazingly effective at communicating with your Councillors when these important decisions take place and their inboxes have been overflowing. Please don’t let this stop you writing again, but this time Flightpath Watch has been told that the best way to direct your comments is to write to the dedicated email address:
airport.monitoring@bromley.gov.uk
Please also copy Cllr Keith Onslow (keith.onslow@bromley.gov.uk) who
will be able to monitor your concerns.
- If you’re not able to attend the meeting in person – and we would urge you to do so if you can – the meetings will be live-streamed and a recording made available afterwards. We are told that links will be available on the day of the meeting enabling you to join the meetings at the following link:
www.bromley.gov.uk/Councilmeetingslive
- Share this information with friends and neighbours and encourage them to attend or log in to the meetings too. You can do this either by word of mouth or by giving them a copy of this newsletter or by forwarding this email to them.
Thank you, as always, for your support. Please rally to the cause.
Kind regards
Flightpath Watch
